1. What are your thoughts about the FH defence this season,  compared to the last season?

I would say we should be stronger this year because we have got Sverrir back and Alen S. has come from Keflavik and Victor is really stepping up and looks really good. We have only lost Logi which of course is a strong player to loose but that was expected.

Now I just hope we stop getting so unlucky with injuries in the defense, but we have a lot of good players now in the defense.

2.   FH is going for the title this year as always, but do you think FH has a better chance of winning the title now, compared to last season?

I feel we are doing good after a small down period in the winter. I actually think we can put up 2 even strong teams in a internal game, so I think we have a better chance this year than last year to be champions again.

3.   What do you think the new players will bring to the squad?

First of all competition to the players to be at the first 11, and also many of the young players are getting more experience and believe that they are good enough. I think players like Ingimar, Emil, Einar K, Brynjar will play some part in this season to come.

The new players will as I said bring more competition inside the team and force every one to focus and improve all the time.

4.   What teams do you think will be FH´s main title competitors and what do you consider their main strengths?

This is a good Question, I think it could be really tight this year but I think Breiðablik, Valur and KR but one team that is expected to be in the top seems to flop and one or 2 teams that are not expected to be in the top will surprise and that could be IBV and FRAM but in general all teams look stronger than last year so I could easily imagine a top with many teams involved.

5.    Is there a team you think could become a dangerous outsider?

Yes I think Valur could be a dangerous outsider. I think they would like to win again and have a lot of interesting players. But we will see, maybe they need more time and to get some more experience, but they have been looking good this winter.

6.   Last season you took some penalties for the team and scored some good goals from the spot. Is there a chance you will repeat that this season?

We will see who take the penalties. We have a lot of good penalty shooters and it is not so important who scores, but that we score goals, but I am definitely ready for it  ;-)

7.   Is there a chance that you will apply for Icelandic citizenship soon?

I dont think that will happen but I have not been giving it many thoughts. Either I am proud of being danish, but on the other hand I also like staying here. Maybe a double citizenship could happen, I dont see myself given up my danish one, I think I just stay as it is today.

8.   From your time playing for FH, has there been a funny moment that you would like to share with the readers?

I don't know how funny it is but when Allan B and I was coming home with FH from the yearly training camp in Spain the year 2003, our first one, Allan and I were sitting in the bus home from Keflavik and wondered where to stay since we came from DK to Spain and have not seen our apartment or where it was, and the man that controlled it was not in the bus. We tried to called him without any luck, and we were getting pretty nervous about what to do. We went to one of the players apartment who had a small party and then we kind of just saw what happened. The player, who is not here anymore, said that we of course could stay for the night but we did not have thing to sleep in, but the night was still young :-) I think that was our first time we tried the Icelandic expression "þa reddast" which is not something we were use too in DK. Nevertheless the phone suddenly rang and the guy that knew about our appartment said „where are you I am at Kaplakriki waiting for you to show you the apartment“, and we were picked up and got the apartment but missed the party.

It is funny to think back and see how often this expression has come forward "þa reddast". It has actually become a natural thing for me after so many years in iceland. I dont get stressed about all kinds of stuff that are been taken care of in the last seconds but it was different for me when I came here.

9.    A last comment from Tommy Nielsen to FH supporters?

One last thing for the FH fans is that we are really hungry to get our title back and there is nothing better than a full stadium who can help us to do good. That gives us so much extra motivation and is also many times a little bit scary. We need you out there at Kaplakriki and other stadiums, football is so much more fun when there are a good atmosphere, so even though you have been doing good over the last many years, I think we can do better. It could be great to have 2000-3000 people at Kaplakriki every time.

FH-ingar.net þakka Tommy Nielsen kærlega fyrir góð svör!
